Shoofly Farm Ins and Outs and Expectations

Welcome to your home away from home. 

We wish to provide you with a relaxing stay at Shoofly Farm and sincerely hope you will enjoy your stay. Anything you need, simply ask. 

 

Please observe these guest requests meant to ensure everyone’s happiness, comfort, privacy, and security.

Please call or text Louise at 201-835-4672 to check availability and pricing, thank you! We apologize that our online booking platform has been temporarily disabled. 

Check-In:

  • Check-in time begins at 3pm. We will need to know your estimated arrival time so that we can prepare for you.

  • Please call us should your confirmed check-in time change on the day of arrival.


Check-out:

  • Checkout time is 11am. 

  • If your plans require a departure after this time please notify us and we will accommodate you when possible.


Payment:

  • Auburn Bed and Breakfast at Shoofly Farm accepts all major credit cards and cash. Due to rising credit card fees, there will now be a 2.5% fee if using any credit card. We apologize for this inconvenience. 
     

Cancellation: 

  • If booking 4 weeks, or more, in advance of your stay, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of your stay will be required 48 hours after booking. (This gives you 48 hours to cancel free of charge). The remaining balance is due 4 weeks prior to check-in. Cancellations made after the deposit has been taken and up to 4 weeks prior to your stay, will result in the loss of the 50% deposit plus a $50 processing fee. Cancellations made 2 to 4 weeks prior of your stay, will result in a 75% loss of deposit plus a $50 processing fee. Cancellations made 2 weeks or less prior to stay will not be untitled to a refund but will receive a 25% credit towards a future stay. 

  • If booking 4 weeks, or less, in advance of your stay, full payment is required 48 hours after booking. (This gives you 48 hours to cancel free of charge). 
    Cancellations made 2 to 4 weeks prior to your stay, will result in a 75% loss of deposit plus a $50 processing fee. . Cancellations made 2 weeks or less prior to stay will not be untitled to a refund but will receive a 25% credit towards a future stay. 

  • If booking 2 weeks or less prior to stay, full payment is expected at booking and no refunds can be issued for cancellation. 

  • Please note: we will do our best to try and rebook the canceled reservation. If we succeed, you will be notified and Partially reimbursed based on any loss we occurred. 

 

Length of Stay:

  • We have a two-night minimum requirement for all stays taking place on weekends, holidays, or special events. 

  • One-night stays are available at the owner's discretion for stays between Monday and Thursday. (Call 201-835-4672 for any one-night inquiries)
     

Occupancy:

  • Room rates are based upon double occupancy. 

  • A service charge of $40 per night will be incurred for each additional guest. Additional guests are only allowed in The Legacy Cottage and Penthouse Loft Retreat.

  • All additional guests must be cleared with the owner at the time of booking.

  • Any guests not indicated at the time of booking will not be permitted to stay.

  • Extra guests can, at the owner's discretion, be allowed to join for breakfast at an additional charge. Any breakfast guests must be stated and cleared at the time of booking.
     

 Children:

  • Auburn Bed and Breakfast at Shoofly Farm is an adult only establishment. The environment is designed for a quiet, relaxing, comfortable, and fun getaway. 

  • Any guests younger than 12 - 18 years of age must be cleared with the owner prior to booking or will not be permitted to stay. 

  • Children up to 11 are permitted at events with special permission and a strict policy of child care 


Housekeeping Service, Towels, and Essentials:

  • Limited housekeeping service is provided. Should you require any attention in your room, please notify us and we’d be happy to accommodate you.

  • Please help us preserve our towels by using the black make-up remover cloths provided instead of the white towels and washcloths to remove your make-up.

  • Please do not use towels or washcloths to clean any messes on the floor. If, and when, these messes occur please notify a member of the Shoofly staff.

  • Soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided in your guest suite.


Eating and Drinking:

  • Please inform a Shoofly staff member of your breakfast order to ensure you get your choice of breakfast.

  • Breakfast will be served on the porch, weather permitting, from 7am - 10am. If you have any special requests outside of these times due to booked activities, ect. Please let us know so we can work with you to provide alternative arrangements.

  • Please inform us in advance of any allergies or dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate them.

  • Complimentary tea and coffee is available.

  • Each room is supplied with Berkey filtered water in a sustainable glass bottle located in the fridge, these can be refilled at one of our water purifiers located in the Farmhouse. Please return bottles to your suite to prevent a $12 charge. 

  • Each suite is stocked with complimentary light refreshments and coffee. These are for your personal enjoyment, though we do ask that you refrain from any eating or drinking in the bed. 

  • Coffee is provided each morning at the coffee station in the communal living area.

Noise and Parties:

  • We ask that all guests be considerate of others staying on the property and refrain from excessive noise levels, especially between the hours of 9pm and 9am.

  • Parties are not allowed. If you wish to host an event on the property it must be approved in advance.

  • Any individuals not staying on the property are only allowed at the owner's discretion and with the owner's prior knowledge.


Kitchen Use:

  • The kitchen is strictly a private area for health and safety regulations. If you wish to use anything in the kitchen or need any item stored there, simply ask one of the staff and we will be happy to assist you.


Pets:

  • For the relaxation and pleasure of all our Farmhouse guests, pets are only permitted in our cottages with special permission from the owner. An exception applies for service animals that may be accommodated within our facility. 

  • If allowed, pets must remain on a leash at all times when outside of your cottage or suite. 

  • All pet waste must be picked up and disposed of, a $25 fee will be charged each time your pest waste is cleaned by a Shoofly employee.

 

Visitors:

  • Auburn Bed and Breakfast at Shoofly Farm is for the exclusive use of our registered guests only. No visitors are allowed unless cleared with us prior to your stay.

  • No unregistered guests are allowed overnight.


Public Areas / Privacy:

  • Please note that you are renting a private suite and/or cottage, not the entire house/property. All public areas of the house are shared and need to be respected as such.


Parking:

  • Parking is complimentary for one car per room on our property.

  • Parking is only allowed in designated parking areas next to the Farmhouse, Sugar Shack, and Legacy Cottage. 

  • Driving on the grass is prohibited. We have a plethora of underground pipes that can be damaged if driven over or parked on. 


AC/Heating:

  • Auburn Bed and Breakfast at Shoofly Farm offers central air conditioning and heating in the Farmhouse. Please do not adjust the thermostat in any of the public areas of the property.

  • Each Suite/Cottage, with exception of the Master Suite, has individual thermostats that control the temperature which can be adjusted for your comfort during your stay. Please refrain from using cool air conditioning in winter. Just turn the heat off.  Thank you. 


Lighting:

  • Please turn off lights in your suite/cottage when leaving your room for the day or evening.

  • Do not adjust the lighting in any of the public areas of the Farmhouse.
     

Safety and Security:

  • The use of candles, incense, or any other combustible material is prohibited in the rooms.

  • Please do not share your room key or lock code with anyone not staying in the room with you.

  • Please lock your suite/cottage door when you are leaving the property as we are not responsible for any theft or damage to property.

  • We ask that you do not lock/unlock any of the doors to the Farmhouse.
     

Lost Keys:

  • Please return your key upon check out.

  • Lost keys will incur a $25 replacement fee.


Damages and losses:

  • Guests are liable for any loss, damage, or personal injury they may cause or incur on-premises. We cannot accept responsibility for your losses within the premises.

  • If any damage is found in your suite or cabin upon departure, a minimum restoration fee of $75 will be charged.

  • Please keep your room door and car doors locked at all times as we cannot be responsible for the actions of other guests staying on the property.


Any Issues:

  • If you have any further questions or would like clarification regarding anything listed here please contact us.

  • Please let us know if you will need any special accommodations during your stay at the time of booking.

  • Any problems with, or damage to, your suite or cottage please inform us at check-in so that we can fix the problem to ensure you have the best and most pleasant stay with us. 

  • Do not flush any material other than toilet paper provided down the toilet. As a farm, we operate on a septic tank and backups can occur if anything other than normal and minimal usage of toilet paper is flushed into our system.

Any violation of these house rules can result in the termination of the remainder of your reservation without reimbursement.
